BecomingA whip's slashing sound penetrated the thick silence in the dungeon of the Sorcere, the drow academy of wizardry...
The exhausted dark elf gulped, trying to hold himself together as he experienced the searing pain on his back.
"What is it going to be now, eh? You know very well everyone else passed the test two weeks ago. Either that or they left for the Melee Magthere to become mere warriors..."
The voice came from the back of the large, gloomy room. The crimson-coloured imp familiar snickered as it playfully flew around the Master's shoulders, the archmage and head tutor of the Sorcere.
"Ardul of the House Alaundril and a few others made it over a month ago..."
The younger drow thought of responding, but as he was recovering from the shock of the last hit, the Master interrupted him:
"But I bet you already knew that, didn't you? I would assume so since you are doing his sister every week!"
The surprised initiat
MassacreMidnight, at the outskirts of the forest, next to the otherwise unremarkable village Palar. The stealthy footsteps of two drow spies approaching, clad in black leather armour and boots. Their victims would never notice them before it would be too late...

"All eight guards are drowning in their own blood. Population is approximately 60 to 80 people, mostly elders, women or children." said one of them in the drow dialect, the one who appeared to be the more experienced of the pair. The grin on his face made him look even creepier as he licked the blood from his curved dagger...
"They have few men remaining that will only present minimal threat, if any at all..." continued the other one trying to match the confidence of his mentor.
They were both talking to the commander, while dozens of well-trained drow stood perfectly motionless behind him, blending with the shadows of the trees.

A ritual of SpidersDark, slender silhouettes...
Blurry, soft movements in the shadowy, narrow streets...

The silence echoed throughout the City of Spiders, where drow slept, in their nightmares

filled with light. The few magical lights dancing over the city's buildings were already

scarce.

The female entered the unholy temple of black obsidian. Her walk as elegant and strong

as her pose. Terrifying chants and arcane words of forgotten languages were spoken,

words that haunted the dreams of the sun-dwellers for centuries...

As the arch-priestess entered, removing her hood, the chanting gained in both pace and

volume, as if infected through her charismat

Wake The Night - Vhaeraunite Hymn

Sons of shadow, wake the night
Let the dark awaken
Dusk's embrace strengthens your might
Guides the dark paths taken.

Take up blade and shadow-mask
In the silence creeping
Turn toward the holy task
While all else is sleeping.

Ebon-masked ones, wake the night
Let the dark awaken
Set yourselves to stand and fight
Let the world be shaken.

So, as a minor hobby I wound up writing a few hymns for use by servants of the drow god Vhaeraun in Forgotten Realms.

This is one of them, which I finally decided to post up here. I sort of envision it being chanted by a bunch of clerics.

I hope people like it.
If you do, and want to use it or parts of it for works featuring your own Vhaeraunite characters (stories and so on), please credit me. And please also comment here linking to it, because it'd be nice to see your use of it. :) With those things in mind, feel free. ;)

Haha, it was actually written partly because a friend plays a cleric of Vhaeraun, and I felt like doing her character a favour. :lol:
