Watcher - a Mazarun and Rantel taleWatcher

Rantel

Rantel has grown accustomed, more or less, to having his hearing back. He no longer needs to watch a speaker, to read their words from the movements of their mouth.

He watches Mazarun anyway. He watches Mazarun's lips shape each word. He watches Mazarun's hands, slender and graceful, as they add qualifying gestures to clarify whatever he's saying.

They got into the habit of signing their conversations and they've never entirely fallen out of it; even a spoken exchange is enhanced by signs that modify the meanings of what is said. Rantel prefers it that way; so many of the subtleties of signed speech are conveyed in the face

A certain Cardassian used to work in the Research department of the PPC, before he got transferred over what he seems to insist was a complete misunderstanding.
Here we see a Mary Sue in very deep trouble indeed, courtesy of Crelmos.
(Yes, I can draw a little better than this- she is deliberately distorted because she is a Sue.

I thought I should comment here as well, just to make obvious the immense, if not entirely innocent and kindhearted, delight this picture gives me.
I grin and chuckle evilly merely upon seeing it.

Must definitely write something to go with this. Hmm... what kind of Sue is it- er, she? And from what continuum?

Hmmm...
Lord of the Rings. Modern girl in Middle-Earth. Stunningly gorgeous young model, supposedly still pure and innocent, despite just coming off snotty and a tad skanky. Note the implausible frilly but revealing dress- that thing somehow survives her adventures without ever getting dirty. Her nails do not break or get chipped polish, either.

In Middle-Earth, she acquires Speshul Magick Powars. From Galadriel. Who says Sue is sekritly an elf turned human to hide her from Sauron, who wanted her dead from birth for her prophesied ability to harm him.

Cries jewel tears. Can turn into a unicorn. Can talk to animals. Beautiful singing voice- it is worth noting that it turns out she even screams musically. Falls in Twu Luv with Boromir, Aragorn and Legolas at the same time. Nails all three and still gets called pure and innocent, because it's soooo not her fault that she can't decide and loves them all.

...I am having far too much fun with this.

But to go to Research, she'd have to be a really dire Sue, or she'd just be executed the usual way. Thus, I have made her suitably outrageously Sueish.

Sweet merciful Q on a bike, that's detailed. But I thank you.

(You know, such things actually remind me of how a certain Cardassian came to be... was mentioning the idea to another Boarder friend in an e-mail, and all of a sudden this entire character profile comes pouring out onto the keyboard from absolutely nowhere. Funny, that.)

This is so delightfully hideous... *cackles* Am going to have fun with this, yes.

Oh, and her starting name is Angeletta Serena Peterson(has plain human adopted parents to angst about their never really understanding her). Her later name after the elf revelation is Vanutinalisalliel Cloudsong.
